Aina Vao (New Life)
Aina Vao was set up in April 2024 in response to the desperation and need seen in the lives of many ladies in Mandritsara. We work with vulnerable ladies training them have skills needed to be independent and free (from prostitution, abuse, poverty…). We train them to make products from a local resource - Raphia, which is found in abundance in Mandritsara. We employ 2 teachers who are able to provide a course to teach them how to crochet Raphia. They are able to make earrings, table mats, handbags, baskets etc by the end of the course. Our aim is to give them a choice to be free and independent. We do this training along with daily bible teaching as we believe that true change and freedom can only be found in the Gospel. We aim to support these ladies compassionately showing them love and bringing them into a safe environment. Our course lasts 3 months and then each lady is given the supplies she is needed to begin to be independent. We continue to have an open door policy so each lady knows they can come back to support and community.
